with some large Krell FPB's reports that his amps sound best after three hours. He runs a pair of 96 dB speakers, so power is not a factor. It simply could be that the large amp simply takes way more time to thermally settle down.
In the case of Counterpoint with their hybrid power amps with transistorized outputs, Mike Elliot said that early production units had tremendous reliability issues because they did not match transistor characteristics at operating temperatures. That statement says a lot right there.
