Tell my more. What are the dimensions and material (or at least the dielectric constant) of the tube and what size wire.
If the wire is small with respect to the tube I also need to know which cases of the wire location within the tube you are interested in. As you can see I started with the case where it was lying on the bottom, 90 degrees from the other tube as I figured that would by typical enough and interesting. To predict the likely capacitance I was thinking of taking four cases 90 degrees apart and averaging the whole mess.
Clearly it would be nice to have the wires on the inside, and since it's about time for a spider hatch I'll have a crew. Unfortunately they are unionized and recalcitrant so I'm probably stuck with what I can do myself.
