"For interconnects, hollow tubes are great, spaced wires are great, anything that can be done to increase the characteristic impedance of the interconnect gets it closer to the actual input impedance of the amp."
Almost sorry to butt in, but... Wouldn't it be a lot easier to make the amplifiers match the cable, especially since on their own hook neither end has a controlled impedance? I've been using home brew interconnects for many years, essentially 300ohm mostly open lines with a build-out resistor at the source and a termination at the load. My main goal was to reduce capacitance and dielectric absorption and using a reasonably matched line lets me do that without reflection and interference problems. Most sources are happy with the load (~500ohms, typically) especially since the build-out resistor provides some isolation from the line capacitance and external noise. And I think they sound good.
Just a thought...
