Right, but the original poster is using a Sound Technology ST1700A, which is a conventional THD analyzer from the early 1970s. So the type of distortion being considered here is simple THD.

Edit: Oops, I should have said "THD+N" as the detector of any distortion analyzer that doesn't use spectrum analysis is an RMS detector, and as such will include the noise as well.
