Just unbelievable what some people think and say! Do they or have they ever listened, I know they cannot read and comprehend. In a sighted test my most expensive cables finish in third place behind a cable that cost half as much. How then did it finish third, it should be the best as it cost the most. Was at a store one day for a demonstration and the salesman said you must be able to hear the differences as five other customers can hear it easily. Nope do not hear any differences and I still believe that I did not. Listened to a big brand speaker costing $5K with my friend and when we left he asked what do you think. I replied that was the worst bass I have every heard on what is suppose to be a decent product he agreed with me. So more expensive is not always better just like everything else.
I have made numerous tweaks and modifications but did not inform the girlfriend, so far she has only missed one and that was a real tough one to hear the differences on. Every other tweak was noticed in very short order if not immediately. Must be that placebo affect because I thought about it and this influenced her! Her score is presently 90% but should it be 100%, I guess we just where not on the same wavelength that day. When her friends state wow does that every sound good what new component did your boyfriend buy you, she replies none he took it apart and changed some parts. He does that all the time and he never tells me about until I notice the difference. Wish I could get past the placebo effect and yes one should be aware of it and attempt to remove it as best as possible.
What makes a difference? Everything makes a difference but if you cannot hear a difference that is fine, I do not pity you but wish I was the same that way I would not have to worry about it. Heck then I might be stuck with tube equipment because I cannot hear the differences. Wait, I do have tube equipment and solid state as well even scary I like both. Could have saved a lot of money if I didn’t hear any differences, in the past I was unable to afford the differences but today I can and will buy what I like.
Well back to listening to my tube headphone amplifier and solid state CD player.
