You used a keyboard to type your message.
You are evil.

But still right in a limited way. Beyond a doubt some audiophiles are highly suggestible and some will be easily swayed by advertising and equipment as status symbols. Bound to be true in any group.

However I see no reason to believe that it's an especially dominant factor in our hobby. Switching between alternate configurations with ample time available usually sorts out the the sheep from goats for a particular system.
