The truth is that what we consider "sounds better" is a purely subjective conclusion.
I don't agree with that entirely. The Harman trained listening panels that consistently preferred certain aspects of loudspeaker performance seems relevant. If the listening panel was further trained with live unamplified music and the consistent trends remained, the results would be irrelevant? I don't imply that everyone has to agree, but some basic standards can be developed that would apply to the majority, if not the deranged few (like someone who connects an 1 watt alarm clock radio amp to a TV or paging "fullrange" speaker and declares greatness).
So it's reasonable that price plays a part in that subjective conclusion.
