As I posted last week, my cheapie homebrew 2x1W SET amp (all with old used parts) sonically blew away a USD5,000 brandname 2x100W classA dual-mono power amp & made a USD600 2x15W push-pull tube power amp (built brandnew by a DIY tube guru) sounded grainy & untasteful.

What loudspeakers were used to create the sound waves that you heard? What preamp fed the amp? What source fed the preamp? What IC's, wires and cords were used? Don't they all contribute to the synergy/sound of the system?

The auditions are all sighted.

I would never have guessed that. Hopefully levels were unmatched and nary a measurement taken to complete the trifecta?
