Hi Andy,
Hey at least you did the leg-work and didn't demand others do it for like Pat D always does. I may be mistaken but I think Clark may have provided a link one time to the BAS article I spoke about.
In all honestly I really don't care one way or the other about ABX boxes or DBTs. I do my audtioning longterm sometimes over weeks. As I stated before contrary to what the lunatic fringe sector of objectivists say about subjectivists, the vast majority of subjectivists don't believe most components & wires have dramatic night and day sonic differences. The fact is the differences are more often subtle, but they're still quite noticable over time. Often it's little things like better transient attack and/or longer decay of notes. Add to that a wider deeper soundstage or the ability to detect the "air" around the musicians and singers.
For me and for many of my friends it's the combination of these many subtle differences that over time presents one audio component to be superior to another. They're subtle and it takes time to hear them BUT, once you've heard them you cannot help but notice when they're missing! Plus they all add in a gestaltsort of way that brings you closer to the sound of the real thing.
It's been good talking with you again Andy. I trust you'll have an enjoyable night listening to some tunes as I'll be doing tonight and over the weekend.
