The main question I have rarely seen asked is "what level of differences was the "actual" test able to reliably detect?" If we don't know that, we may as well try to weigh a 10g weight on a 20kg spring gauge !!!
NO scientist worth his salt will measure anything without knowing what accuracy and discrimination his equipment has.
As no ABX tests can possibly do this sort of calibration within a sensible amount of time, to me, null results in such tests are irrelevent and meaningless.
(this does not mean I think there is a difference, just that the null result doesn't mean anything.)
...maybe, sometimes, perhaps. ;-))
