Soldered Speaker Connectors to a Steel Coat Hanger......

The author stated an engineer soldered speaker connectors to the coat hangers. That would be a neat trick..... Since most wire coat hangers are made of steel (feel free to research this), and electronics (rosin-core) solder does not bond to steel.
One would also have to conclude that the speakers were no more than three feet away from the amplifier, and that extreme care was taken to avoid shorting the non-insulated conductors together.....
