Are you suggesting that the elements required for long term enjoyment are in fact 70dB or more down from the peak signal level? I don't see how a value judgement can be made about the qualities of the differences below 70dB since the article never mentions exactly which parameters are tweaked by how much. In other words what knowledge are you using to determine that the remaining sound beyond the 70dB level to which Carver acieved the null is in fact a variety of sound which causes long term listening discomfort? Or for that matter how have you determined any quality of the remaining sound good bad or indifferent?

Either you have inside information here or are jumping to conclusions which do not follow from the evidence presented.
