That makes sense. Assuming the gain is set by resistors in the feedback loop, the typical 1 percent resistor tolerances are going to be enough to ruin a -70 dB null. The -70 dB null requires a 0.03 percent gain match (or 0.0027 dB). And some of that null is distortion, so the gain match needs to be better than that.
