I'm not sure what is the proper conclusion, Andy. A -70dB null was deemed audible. By the old fingers'n'toes calc that's an 0.03% difference, well below what I understand to be the nominally scientific limit for audibility. Contrast this with a current thread (on DiyA?) about an on-line THD listening test in which people are reporting distortion ceases being audible anywhere between -19dB to -40dB below the fundemental. That's 10% to 1%! Yet in the Carver test they claim to have heard differences nulled at -70dB. Either the test was flawed or the results don't suggest what most 'objectivists' believe about electronics.
