Cameron aka Bassflute on talkbass.com is the person who won a Virtual Dynamic $305.00 powercord. He quite clearly stated in his original post...1) Had to pay shipping - $28.00. I'm already into this for way more $$$ than I wanted to be.
2) This cable is $305.00, and I must say I am TOTALLY skeptical.
3) I will try to be open minded, I just hope it doesn't work as they say it does.
4) This is a power cable, I really can't understand how it is going to change the sound.
5) I sure hope it doesn't work, otherwise I'll have to put these throughout my system, which would be heavy, ridiculous, inconvenient, and very expensive.
6) Tom Bowlus, you need one of these! I'll sell you this one
cheap. So we see Bassflute is a person who felt $28 was more than he wanted to pay for a $305 power cord. He was completely skeptical, yet claimed he "tried" to remain open minded. Still even after claiming to try and remain open minded, Bassflute stated he hoped it didn't work, couldn't understand how it is going to change the sound, believed installing them in his system would be ridiculous amongst other things and was even willing to sell that particular one cheap to Tom Bowlus.
However Bassflute, to his credit, remained at least sufficiently open minded enough to try to the power cord. After trying the power cord ---instead of simply dismissing it, Bassflute said: That's what I was thinking... till I plugged it in. I'm sorry, it works, a little bit. It wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement of praise, but with some experience with the power cord, Bassflute admitted it works a little.
Unfortunately the lunatic fringe objectivists cannot tolerate even the slightest bit of praise or admittance of the possibility that a power cord might actually effect the sound. To that end we see Superbassman200 come to the rescue of L.F.O.s everywhere. Acting like a true L.F.O. does Superbassman2000 simply completely disregards the fact that Bassflute clearly stated he had at least 5 biases against this power cord working as described:
1)he believed $28 was too much for a $300 power cord.
2)he was completely skeptical.
3)he hoped it didn't work.
4)he couldn't understand how it is going to change the sound.
5)he believed installing them in his system would be ridiculous amongst other things.
6)he was willing to sell that particular power cord cheap. Then after completely disregarding Bassflute's biased comments against the possibility of the power cord effecting the sound, Superbassman2000 reaches into the L.F.O. bag of tricks and other deceptive practices and pulls out canned answer #107-a32 "expectation bias!" Although Superbassman2000 easily ignores all Bassflute's other biases against the powercord working as expected, he now queries Bassflute about this one particular area of expectation bias that Bassflute NEVER even hinted at being a possibility: "I wonder if it sounds better because you are expecting it to sound better?" Talk about twisting the truth of the actual situation to fit your beliefs?
At least it portrays the L.F.O.s for being the unrational, unobjective people they really are!
