In the "Steve Hoffman compares" thread below it is mentioned that he endorses the infamous Hallograph.
"The Hallograph breakthrough technology is the result of over 10 years of research that studied the effects of the speaker/room interface. We learned how to reduce the audibility of the chaotic reflections from the walls of the listening room..."
Given the fact that early reflections will be inaudible when less than 22 dB below the direct sound at 3 ms, and when less than 31 db below direct sound at 15-30 ms that's a genuine technological breakthrough and deserves endorsement indeed.
"so they [the early reflections] won’t overpower the direct sound from the speakers."
Given the fact that early reflections are at levels BELOW that of the direct sound (somewhere between 1.5 and 6.6 dB) the question must be asked how a weaker sound is able to overpower a stronger sound .
"The Hallograph contours the frequency, amplitude and time coefficients of the first reflections you hear..."
Given the fact that the first reflection you hear is the one from the floor, the question must be asked how a device that is placed at lateral positions is able to do that.
Since Shakti don't even get the most basic stuff right, the question must be asked what exactly they were doing during those "10 years of research that studied the effects of the speaker/room interface". As for Steve Hoffman's endorsement, I leave the judgement to you.
Klaus
