There are no such thing as absolute potentials

It is always relative to something else.

It is convenient to call the mass of the Earth "ground" and use it as the "zero reference point" but it has no meaning other than that.

Maybe the moon is at 10,000,000 volts relative to the earth. No consequence unless you plan to wire them together!
