The difference between a properly designed amp and a well designed amp is that a properly designed amp only needs to meet the original design goals. A well designed amp obviously needs to do this as well, but also needs to sound good!
The trick is to find (and then attempt to substantiate) the corollary between what is deemed 'worthy design goals' and what is deemed to be 'good sound'.
Why does an amp with a damping factor of 1000 have more controlled and tighter bass than an amp with a damping factor of 200 at high levels? This is a good example of where the corollary actually exists.
