A good example is that you go around crying that a test is fatally compromised because the exact likelihood of possible sampling error cannot be verified from the text of the published report, while at the same time believing in the power of Hallograms (or whatever the name of those totem objects you erect in your room corners), vinyl demagnetizers, the potency of green markers and pebbles in a jar, and shaving off the edges of your CD.
