I ran a store and had the opportunity to 'break in' speakers all the time. I had other pairs already 'broken in' to do comparisons, as often as hourly if I felt up to the task. I know what I heard and what my customers heard. Some initial comparisons were quite marked in the sonic differences. If you feel that that kind of comparison is unqualified and not viable, so be it. You are entitled to your opinion.

Life is much easier if one can not discern the differences. I believe this kind of discussion is exactly what the original poster was trying to avoid, so I'll not answer to any further comments.
