Well, I've heard bad sounding speakers which did not improve any with break in. Does that qualify?
Most people hear something that they like in a speaker before purchasing, and most demo pairs are 'broken in'. It is not surprising if the speakers chosen in this manner have the end user report favorable effects from 'break in'. Remember the designer needs only to burn in the original design speaker and once satified with the performance, need not burn in every single driver on the production line.
As for ears breaking in, how would you explain the differences heard by those who own multiple pairs of speakers and can compare a new speaker to their tried and trusted older pair?
