But many, many speakers have a roller coaster impedance vs. frequency curve.

The load is used to give an idea of the magnitude of the FR variations of an amplifier into a typical speaker load.

An amp with a low output impedance will have virtually the same frequency response into that roller coaster load as into a resistor. And that includes most good solid state amps. So I don't see that you have an argument here in favor of tubes.
