While I'm deliberating on what to do about my pa situation - I started to wonder about the differences between PA speakers and home speakers. From what I understand (which isn't a whole lot) the major difference is that PA speakers concentrate on efficency and "Throw".
But in a small venue - what is the problem with using a set of full range stereo speakers mounted up high? Would they lose there immediacy after a 20 or so feet... or hmmm, how to articulate this?
If the venue was a coffee shop or art bar, pub - small to medium sized room, would they not suffice? Would they not be ... better?
I thought the dispersion characteristics of a home dynamic speaker might actually be better - and their resolution likely better.
(obviously they are prone to damage - but who cares! :P )
Any thoughts?
