I am an amateur in starting my own home PC DAW and would like some advice on GOOD sounding studio monitors. I've looked at Harmony-central.com and couldn't find many personal reviews of other studio monitors.I'm sorta leaning towards active speakers but if others believe I can get better results by using passive speakers - let me know.
Price range i'm looking at is about $500 - $1000usd for a decent good sound pair. I seen the Roland models that feature a built-in DAC (24/96k) which mean I can run a digtal line from my PC direct to the speaker. Is there any major drawback with this method?
I have just ordered a Steinberg RME Nuendo Multi-set for the PC and will use that as my main interface for recording. Kind of music I am interested in recording is instrumental guitar (a la Vai, Satriani, etc.)
Posted URL shows some different models to choose (which is best?).
