It would be very easy to make the mistake of judging an amplifier by its parts instead of by its design.There are good and bad amp designs utilizing either semi-conductor.
Listen to the amp and when you find one you like, ask what type of transistor it uses.One who declares a design good or bad simply by looking at the ingredients is probably not very informed to say the least. A good chef can use ordinary ingredients and make a fine tasting dish. A charlatan might use only the finest ingredients and still come up with mediocre results.
