Don't laugh....but the Gemini 2400 DJ table has 78rpm (why is beyond me!) and for your purpose would fit the bill. I bought one for the same reason, transfering 78's. I'm using the Shure 78 rpm stylus in their 78 cartridge. Phono pre is the one in a McIntosh MX-113. Archive media is CD and mini-disc.

The best internet price on the Gemini should be as low as $300, and for stylus, look at the Garage-A-Record web site for lots of options!
