Re: Sound Devices 722 digital recorder

Hi, u47:

It would be a very wise idea if you read the owner's manual and practiced a lot with the new toy before going in to use it on location.

I hope you plan to bring along a back-up device of some sort.

On location assignments these days, I usually bring along my HHB-850 when I record directly to my Alesis Masterlink.

My Aphex 1100 mic pre sends a digital signal out to the Masterlink at 24/96 while I port out an analog signal to the HHB 850 and burn a disc while committing the higher resolution signal to the Alesis Masterlink.

With these devices, anything can and WILL happen! I have run into a defective blank CDR on more than one occasion.

The Sound Devices machine should include a limiter, right? If so, engage it!

Just try to be on the safe side, you know, especially in case you run into some dynamics!

It would be nice of you to post a follow-up regarding your experience with the device for others who might be interested to hear how things went for you.

Count me in as one of those people!

Good luck to you!
