Hi, I'm looking for a new power amp for my home stereo installation. I had a Phase Linear 400 series 2 power amp that has finally failed. I was looking to replace it with a Crown Xti-2000. Would this be a good replacement for my Phase? I am concerned that I will be replacing a consumer amp with a pro audio amp. I have heard that the pro amps don't sound as clean as the consumer amps, and I must admit I have always be confused at the very wide price difference between the two. The Pro Audio stuff is just so much cheaper than the consumer stuff it has to make one wonder. I will be using my faithful Crown IC-150 pre-amp. If I get XLR male to RCA male cable's with very short 5' runs, should I have a problem with hum? I will be driving Bose 901 series 6 speakers.
