Yes, the set up wasn't great, but

They had a CD player and I was using my own CDs. There was a bad ground loop as well, but it didn't get in the way.

Regarding the Mackie HR824s, they are around $500 CDN more than the Dynaudios, Tannoys and Mackie HR624s, and therefore a bit out of my price range. I heard them yesterday in the background, seemed alright, but the Mackie tweeters don't come anywhere close to the ones in the Dynaudios.
