Home Pro Audio Asylum

Pro studio recording equipment and music production/industry.

Be careful auditioning in a pro audio shop.

As you noticed, the speakers are often set up terribly. They also generally use MP3's being played on a computer as the source, and there are also usually very bad ground loop and other noise problems from looping all the speakers through their switch box.

The Mackie 824's play a bit lower than the Dynaudio's and you might find them to your liking. The tough part is deciding which one to take home to audition. In an ideal situation you could take two or three pairs home and bring back the ones that you didn't want.

Good luck in your search.
-Aaron.
