Yes the pads were designed to stop the drawer vibrating... I bet you could get good results with that, plus with the pads, you can tilt the speakers at various angles or let them flat. They are $30 and worth to try imho. I have heavy steel stands that I am not using anymore. They are 24 inches high and I prefer my speakers a little lower on the floor, between 12 and 16 inches tilted up to reinforce bass and mid-bass. I am using a stack of 2 sets of 5 bricks high to make a T and the mopads on top.... cheap solution that works for me.
I was very close to buy the mackies 824 or 624. I never had a chance to listen to them as the store near me did not know how to hook them up (sam ash music)!!! and I came across the bm5a and the positive reviews. But I still want to give the mackies a listen.
