I would vote for #2. Run the Mains bridged in mono and use the Peavey for a monitor amp.

You don't want to clip your mains amp since this will smoke your horns (as well as sounding bad). I would also get an eq (especially for the monitor mix). You aught to be able to pick up a used 31 band graphic eq for about $100.
