RE: best mic for soft voice vocalist

What happens when you try? Feedback? Too much room/stage/electronic noise? Other than that, do you like the sound character?

The SM58 has a reasonable output level.

Maybe she's just too far from the mic. Maybe the mic and the speakers aren't oriented as well as they could be, relative to feedback. Maybe you're not eq'ing her well enough to avoid feedback. Maybe your mixer is noisy. Maybe she should project more.

What I'm saying is: Maybe it's not the microphone's fault. She might consider working with a vocal coach (singing teacher), preferably one who knows how to "work" a mic.

Otherwise, yes, look at other mics which have higher voltage output.
