Overpowering Subs

hey all,

I have 4 dual 18 grund 3600gt boxes which ask for 2000 watts. i am giving them roughly 3100 watts. so far so good. its been almost 6 or 7 months of nightly heavy use.

I have heard of and, in this case, experienced better low end response by over powering subs. though i have also heard the opposite opinion.

any thoughts?
