Confusion on how to wire preamp to pro-amp

Pro studio recording equipment and music production/industry.

I have an NAD preamp that I am using to feet a signal to an Ashly FTX-2001. I am getting a hum when the rca to 1/4 cables are plugged into the amp. I used the same cables with a QSC amp and had no issues. Do I need some other type of adapter? I noticed the ground lug on the amps power plug is missing - was going to replace that.
