My brother has done work for a number of local dance clubs and has accumulated several pieces of non-working gear, including a Crown CE2000 power amplifier.
He says I can have it if I want to try to fix it. (Note: I do guitar amp, Hammond Leslie, and tube Hi-Fi amp repairs professionally these days, but I haven't worked on a high-wattage solid state power amp before.) It may be useful for a band situation I'm being asked to participate in.
So, I'm wondering how the Crown company is about access to schematics, etc... I know some companies will facilitate repairs, while others (i.e., Musical Fidelity) refuse to provide schematics and generally try to throw up roadblocks to repairs by anyone not officially authorized by them.
What is Crown like to deal with? I've found it helps to know this in advance before approaching an audio company.
