Crossovers were do i use them?

For my garage band i picked up some peavey fh1 bass bins to be used with 4 Yamaha sv15 club series speakers, The amp i use is a Altec 9446a(450cont/8 ohm 2 channel)i was told to use a crossover for these to get louder clearer sound without damageing drivers. Anyway i picked up an old furman tx4 crossover(free) how do i use it, does it go after the amp, if so will it handle the power of the amp. what are good crossover points, i was thinking of up too 200hz for the bass and no lower then 200hz for the yamahas using them for the mid/highs.
Any help would be so appreciated!
