You haven't named the mics, have you? Are they cardiod? Years ago I had great success with a very tight pattern mic even when the perfromer stood very close to in front of the speakers! You should consider hyper cardiod patterns with very serious rejection from the rear, then throw a Sabine feedback destroyer onto the system if that doesn't work.
