Fullrange or subwoofers?

70.67.146.244

If it's for subwoofers, you don't need anything fancy. Consider the lowly Peavey PV8.5C, and the CS800; both do over 400 watts/channel into 4 ohms. I've used the PV8.5C as a sub amp, and the fan is pretty quiet in low-speed mode. It only kicks up into high speed in very hot weather, or when the music is really bumping. Taller amp cases allow using larger diameter fans which move more air at lower RPMs, and therefore are quieter than 2U (3.5" high) amps. The only problem I've had with the PV was when the very dirty fan didn't start up and it overheated and (rightly) shut down, and once running into 2.66 ohms with faulty generator power. No permanent damage once it cooled down.
