Thanks David, I've had it checked and everything's working to spec. Doing anything "in" the noise reduction module is asking for trouble since Dolby had the caps and resistors made to spec and repairs in it have to be done on a replace and measure basis. What I asked about are closer to musings. The power supply is pretty basic so I may try and improve regulation.
It's actually the better sounding of the 9 Dolby units I have and fooled with. I have another one for comparisons and all the documentation.
BTW I gave it a try over on the GS Geekslutz forum and didn't get much help there a while ago.
