Up dating Dolby unit

I'm upgrading a Dolby Labs 330 for home use and have a couple of questions regarding balanced circuits.
Since I don't have long cable runs to contend with, I'm thinking about bypassing the input transformer which I believe lowers the signal -6dB and using consumer level input (-10dB). The Dolby module requires an input of 350 mV to operate and the input level is adjusted with an attenuator pot. All this seems straightforward enough, and it will eliminate a switch, the transformer, and a resonance damper for the transformer.
The output transformer is a 1:2 step up and will output a max of +21dBm into 600 ohms. Since I don't want to run +4dB on output what would be the best way to get the output I want (-10dB) and a low output impedance? Are there any major holes in what I'm trying to do?
