RE: JBL SR4725 as home hi-fi rig..

I must say that I continously unimpressed with what most people are manufacturing, buying and pontificating about. Having been a performer and engineer myself, I have yet to find anything in hifi would that even comes close to some of the monitor systems used in studios, or provide the impact that great FOH systems provide. I have a studio at my residence now, so I am luck there. When I get my kids out of the house, I will likely do what you are doing and move some PA stuff into the living room. I would use some hi-q boxes, which won't be cheap, but there are companies going out of business or upgrading every season. So I should be able to get something affordable. I would like to have some of the Clair custom stuff.

In the audio shop, a couple of us listen to modern prog rock. Most of the speakers can't deliver the goods on guitar as you say, or beefy Mike Portnoy drums.
