Hmmm...I'm pretty sure I only posted once. And using the Perception on the guitar cab was just for testing purposes.
I did some more tests. I rented a Rode NT1-A and an AKG C414 B-XLS.
The Perception just has a hollow character about it that gets exaggerated as the source gets more than a few inches away.
The Rode was a little better than the Perception all around.
The Audix still picked up more detail and clarity than all of the others.
Of course the C414 was very warm and thicker on the voice, and more accurate in general. It also rejects room and off-axis sounds really well. It's ok a few feet off of a guitar cab but I would still just use the Audix alone for that.
I'm selling the Perception and looking for another LDC about the same price as the Rode NT1A.
