Re: (attn Chris, others) I was listening to some monitors today

I got a chance to listen to MAckies and Event last week. In retrospect, I do not regret having chosen the dyns over the mackies...I could not care less for the mackies.
However, I wished I had listened to the Tannoys... They seem to be very nice from what you say and what I have heard from other users...
Believe me, the dyns deliver the bass... low bass you can feel. But I agree with you they can sound boxy on some frequencies. Also, like all speakers, they are very sensitive to room placement so depending on how you place them relative to the floor, you can change the midbass and midrange response. I have had B&Ws CDM9-NT, Martin Logans Aerius i, and magnepan MG`12s before the BM5As, and, to my ears, the dyns are very revealing and well in par with these hi-fi models. At the price point, I see no real weakness in the bm5a.
I am going to get a pair of magnepan again next week and compare them to the dyns.
I'll try to locate a Tannoy dealers and listen to the Reaveal 6D. They seem to be a bargain. Did you listen to them fed with an analog or digital source?
