Hi all! I am doing research on upgrading my home studio to a computer system (from 4 track MD no less!). I've finalized my decision to a G4 Powerbook (1.5 gHz, 80gig 15incher), but am now having serious flipflopping on software/audio interfaces. I really dig the MOTU 828mkII for it's all around functionality (standalone mixing!! SMPTE!! Firewire!!) but am a bit nervous about committing to a non-Protools system, since everyone and their uncle is using that. The upside is that Logic, Digital Performer and the new Live are all compatible with Protools, but I'd like to make a smarter decision that my last one (MD mutlitrack) that will be the most compatible with studios/colleagues. Any thoughts or reccommendations?? Would love to hear from folks using any and all platforms...
