Dan,

That actually looks very good to me for an in-room measurement.

I presume that's a non-time-gated measurement, and you indicate that it's taken from back near the listening postion. So what we're seeing is more the power response than the anechoic on-axis frequency response. That is not a bad power response at all. The on-axis, first-arrival response is probably quite a bit smoother.

Also, the ear integrates the sound power over intervals roughly 1/3 octave wide, which means that narrow-band peaks and dips are ignored provided they average out across a 1/3 octave interval. So a "hashy" looking response curve like that one actually sounds a lot better than a smoother one that has broad peaks and dips. From 600 Hz to 7 kHz the measured response looks to me like it predicts very smooth perceived tonal balance, even though the eye sees a lot of hash. In my opinion the region where you really, really want to get the power response right is from 2 kHz to 5 kHz, and Bruce has done an excellent job in that region. Typically below 200 Hz or so the room's acoustic characteristic dominates, so it's harder to say what the speaker by itself is doing - but that's still very good performance.

Do not over-damp your room, as you'd lose liveliness and richness. The reverberant sound mucks up the measurement, but is sweet to the ears as long as you avoid slap-echo and strong, distinct early reflections - which is something hornspeakers are inherently good at due to their well controlled directivity.
