I am 9 months into my adventure with computer based audio and I am loving it! When my old and heavily modded CD player finally gave up the ghost I looked around for a replacement and decided I was ready to take the plunge. The turning point was when my daughter handed me her “piece of $#!7” laptop. That crappy laptop was just what I was looking for.

I now have the best digital front end I’ve ever owned, and it offers me flexibility that CD playback never could. I can go purist for serious listening, or let fly with a playlist of favorites, or stream my favorite radio stations from around the world. I can find all my music without hunting high and low for it, and I can play content encoded in a variety of sampling rates and bit depths. And here’s the crazy part. I’ve achieved all this for less than what I paid for a high quality CD player 10 years ago!
