Tony - It's surprising that you are so convinced that the sound quality would not vary with different formats. I suppose it's one of those "I have to hear this for myself" things.I played your three "offset" tracks at RMAF in my room, and every single listener heard differences. This has been shown to be the case for both sigma-delta and NOS chips, so I dont believe its the D/A at fault.
For those that are curious, these three tracks all have identical data blocks, but different offsets only. Tony created these test tracks for me.
There are several industry experts looking at these offset tracks now, including recording engineers, software engineers and hardware engineers.
Most of these heard the difference in my room and requested the tracks for study. Maybe they can shed some light on what is going on here.
