I'm computer conversant in the Mac world, but not digital file audio savvy since I've just kept everything to purchased Redbook CDs and CD players. (I also feel a certain impairment in learning new things, which is one of two major reasons I haven't gone to a cpu and dac yet.)1. I didn't see mentions in my archive search of the past year: Is Toast 9.x good enough just to make a backup CDR?
2. And can Toast be forced to really burn at 1x for real? The software settings allow 1x and also for buffer protection to be unchecked, of course, but after setting it that way my Toast progress irritometer claims to be writing at 7x in its little, ongoing notation. [I am considering meantime that this could be a function of my DVD drive's limitations, of the sort Christine is often posting about, but in that case I think Toast should grey out impossible options....]
