I set up one of the fanless ones with a 2.5 in HD and 150VA push on PS. Absolutely clean with only one 4 in SATA cable and the board links to the case.

This is some low power cpu. Windows XP installed very quickly and there is very little hesitation in use (as opposed to even quite powerful laptops). Not tried audio yet.

Power consumption is about 2A at 12V idle, rising to about 2.4 A when on duty such as installing a large program.

I have it in a big box which would allow me to put in all kinds of power supply mods, as well as add more heat sink. There is also plenty of room for a sound card, which can even be moved well away from the MB vis a flexible pci link.

The only drawback is highish cpu and bridge temperatures; the heat sinks needs bolstering which should be easy in my box. (When installing windows the cpu temperature reached 70C!)

Come to think of it, these shoebox PCs are a nonsense if one has room.

The cost is less than $250.
